Harlem EatUP Festival

The second annual Harlem EatUP! Festival…

Takes place this year on May 19-22. This four-day festival invites guests to see, taste and explore the culture of this unique New York neighborhood. The festival features works of art from local artists, musicians, actors, and chefs and includes a number of events and public presentations over the course of the festival.

There is no better way to experience all that Harlem has to offer than this festival which features the best of the best all in one place. From exclusive dinners and tastings to the Saturday and Sunday stroll where $80 gets you access to a variety of tastings from more than a dozen local chefs and restaurants. In addition celebrity guest chefs, including Bobby Flay, Carla Hall, Emeril Lagasse and Jonathan Waxman, will prepare meals with Harlem’s local iconic chefs.

The Harlem EatUP! Festival came to be because of efforts of executive chef and local Marcus Samuelsson and Herb Karlitz, a veteran event marketer, who wanted to find a way to bring the best of Harlem to the masses. They took the idea for the festival and promoted it locally to businessmen, artists, and visionaries who worked together to create this special event.

It is important to all involved that Harlem is seen as a community that supports and cares for one another. As such, proceeds from the ticket sales are donated to Harlem Park and Park/ Citymeals-on-wheels program. Both organizations are significant in the community and have had a positive impact through feeding the communities homebound elderly residence.

The festivities are open to the public and families are strongly encouraged to attend. The Market in Morningside Park will be offering activities for kids, there are a number of musical performances scheduled, and a variety of foods and beverages are available for purchase from local vendors. There are also a number of cooking demos scheduled on stage for both Saturday and Sunday afternoon that include tutorials by master chefs.
